Hair Care

In order to achieve optimal longevity of hair extensions, it is important to treat them like they are "home grown", or your hair. Here are some tips to keep the hair extensions long lasting, and maintain their luster:

Carefully detangle
Use a wide tooth comb or paddle brush to comb through the extensions on a regular basis. This will healthily remove knots, promoting minimal breakage (unlike small tooth combs). You will want to use a good moisturizing conditioner to help remove tangles as well.

Cleanse (wash weekly for best results)
Be sure to shampoo and condition extensions with lukewarm water. I recommend using sulfate and alcohol free shampoo and conditioner. Shampoo each weft one at a time to avoid tangling of hair.

Shampooing hair:
Do not be harsh with the hair. Work the shampoo through the hair by gently rubbing the hair with your fingers in a downward motion. Use your fingers in a horizontal motion between wefts  to clean your scalp and a vertical motion to clean the hair extension. Rinse with cool water (hot water can tangle the hair). When rinsing, do the same to be sure that all of the shampoo (and conditioner) is washed out. Repeat these steps two times (three depending on how dirty the hair is), wring weft out and place on a towel while completing these steps on the next weft.

Conditioning hair
Be sure to squeeze as much water out of the hair as possible, then pat dry and place on a towel. Put a healthy amount of conditioner on each weft and gently work it through the extensions. Place them in a plastic bag for 15 minutes (the longer the hair sits, the better it is for the hair). Then rinse with cool water and towel dry. It is good to do regular condition treatments but it is possible to over condition hair. Signs of over-conditioned hair are Brittleness and tangling. If this does occur, you best resource is a deep cleansing or chelating shampoo.

Co-washing is highly recommended to help hair maintain it's luster.

Deep condition
This is of utmost importance in maintaining the softness/ luster of your extensions. Using a moisturizing conditioner, gently work through each weft and place them in a bag. For best results, let the masque sit over night. The next day, wash the masque out completely with cold water, ensuring no residue is left on the hair. Towel dry.

Air dry
Completely squeeze all of the water out of each weft and towel dry. To prevent heat damage, air drying is highly recommended. Lay each weft on a towel and pat any excess water out of the hair. Please allow time for hair to dry.

Nighttime/Daily Routine
Do not go to bed with wet hair. This will cause tangling of hair.
Always tie the hair down before going to sleep with a silk or satin head wrap.
Always use heat protectant when styling with heat.

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CURLY HAIR*
To refresh curls, spray hair with a water bottle.
If you experience any tangling - before washing the hair- spray mixture of conditioner and water and brush the hair from the bottom, up.
Scrunch up hair gently to redefine curl and use styling products (using too much product will weigh the hair down).
Do not finger comb the wefts.
